Multicultural is a term that does not appear in the dictionary developed by the Real Academia Española (RAE ). Yes are, on the other hand, a concept that works as its synonym: multicultural.Multicultural these adjectives refer to that which is typically contain or reflect various cultures. In general, the notion of multicultural applies on those territories where coexist different cultural traditions, developed by several ethnic or population groups.An example of a multicultural State is 40 Bolivia; that, from 2009, is called officially plurinational State of Bolivia ). This South American country is home to some forty Aboriginal ethnic groups ( as Quechua, Guarani, Aymara and other ) mestizos, native descendants of Europeans, population of blacks, Asian immigrants and many other communities.Multiculturalism can be considered, in itself, a value. The coexistence of multiple cultures implies a plurality of knowledge and traditions that enrich a nation. However, if such coexistence is not peaceful or develops with harmony, the concept can happen to imply anything negative.The multicultural to be positive, all the cultures in question must be respected, unless some are imposed on others. In this way, the different traditions can coexist and members of each culture can enjoy their rights.It is important to emphasise that, at present, all countries are multicultural due to the phenomenon of globalization. Several factors make that Nations are formed with the contributions of individuals of diverse backgrounds. The challenge for States is to take advantage of multiculturalism and to ensure that minorities are not overwhelmed.
